Arial and Verdana

07 Aug

Changes

  • We have reverted the default font back to Verdana due to feedback.

We do wish there is a universal alternative to both Arial and Verdana in the land of browser typography. Verdana is nice and clear but extremely wide. Arial is compact and more traditionally pleasing but sometimes a little too squeezed with a lot of text.  Verial font anyone?

Arial would now only be used in certain instances where spacing is critical. In addition, we are currently testing multiple web fonts for people to toggle/use for story reading pages.

I agree with Astoria25. I really don’t like the Verdana font; it’s too small of a font and hard to read. I preferred Arial because it’s bigger and easier to read. Perhaps you could change it to Verial like you mentioned?

Speaking of fonts, how bout words eh? Mainly a minimum. I think there should be a keystroke, spaces not included, minimum for reviews. ^_^ is not a review, and “Good” can mean a whole lot of things or it can be like saying nothing at all.

Speaking of Fonts I say you should try using Times New Roman or New York font or even type writer style. That’s only a suggestion but I think its a good one.

Yessss! Bring back the Times Roman; it looks neater and more professional and takes up fewer printing pages. Please bring back the Times Roman; the three fonts on there now look too similar…lack of variety.

Please, please, please, please bring back the Times Roman font. The three fonts on there now all look too much alike; we need variety, not sameness.

Is there any way you can add support for at least one SERIF font? You used to, and I detest having to read long blocks of text in sans-serif (which all three of your current options are).

I’m up for any text were capital “i” doesn’t look like an lowercase “L”, especially in the contraction “I’ll” (I will), and words like illuminating, Illinois, illiterate, etc., because then I’m not sure what exactly is written, and it’s just plain annoying. So please, especially on mobile, give us a font with the visual distinction between the two.
