New Forum Filtering and Speedup for Asia

01 Mar

Forum admins can now set a forum “type” within the forum control interface. Currently selectable types are “General” and “Roleplay/RPG”. We are open to suggestions to new forum types to make this filter even more focused. The new forum type filter should help readers/writers navigate the tens of thousands of forums in each section.

We have a small treat for those in the far east. Site load times in South-East Asia have been improved. Faster is always better when it comes to page load times and even more so for mobile users.

On FF there are quite a few forums for particular fandoms (as in, not in general or on FP) dedicated to pairings. Some are for a single pairing and some are just all around every pairing possible for that fandom. Perhaps a pairing category or to make it a little broader, character. Character could then be applied to FP as well for any forum dedicated to creating and revamping characters. That could also fall into the general category on FF.

    Forums have types like
    RP
    Simple chat
    Characters
OC places (That’s what I was looking for)
    Non-cross-overs
    cross-overs
    Battle contest
Maybe more of which I can’t think of now

Another type is challenge/contest based forums. I enjoy taking up challenges, but the forums for this have always been hard to dig up.

That’s a very good idea! I was looking for a challenge forum, and have yet to see one. It would be nice to have a forum for such a thing.

Another type is review request forums, where people can ask for reviews to their stories.

I think a category devoted to “Discussions” can serve as a category for people just wanting to talk about things, everything from their favorite pairings to the latest episode/chapter/book/etc. of a certain series. I also think their should be a category for “Writing Mechanics” or basically a category for forums dedicated to assisting other authors with their writing, plotting, character development…etc.

Hey guys, I have a problem and suggestion, this week I created 2 forums; one is for a General use, and it’s part of the cartoons’s category, where my fandom can share ideas about their fanfics and stuff, and the second forum is for RPG, for the same category (the cartoon), but when I try to set the category in the RPG forum, the page says I can’t have two forums in the same category. I would like to have both, because, one is just for discussion and the other one it’s for roleplaying.

Would you mind to fix that issue? BTW Thanks for creating the RPG forum type
