Polishing Part 2

16 Aug

Lots of small changes with primary focus on the mobile site.

Changes

  • Mobile Just In page sync: Top 100 categories filter.
  • Mobile Listing page sync: 4 character selection + new without/negative filters.
  • Many other small changes and fixes.

Notes:

  • We have removed support for Nintendo DS(ixl) browsers a while back so please use a more powerful device to visit the site. The following browsers are no longer on our mobile support list: Blackberry, Nintendo DS(ixl).
  • Note to Kindle/Nook users. These two systems usually come with very out-dated browsers. Use the appropriate store to download Google’s Chrome Browser.
  • For the visually impaired, we highly recommend the free NVDA screen reader and we will try to support it to the best of our abilities.

UPDATE: For those still using flip phones or phones that are not based off Android of iOS, you must download use Opera Mini (m.opera.com).

CHANGE IT BACK!!! The new filter system messed up the list of fanfiction I was reading and now there are couple pairing that I haven’t clicked on popping up in the list. Whatever you did undo it because I can’t find the stories I was previously reading and I don’t like that I have to scroll through other couple pairing that I don’t want to read.

Blarg, the 3DS thing saddens me but I understand why. I’ve had trouble getting to Tumblr on my 3DS even though Nintendo went out of their way to create photo-sharing support for it. Sounds like it’s a web developer’s nightmare.

Why does Nintendo 3ds not have the support? Does the Nintendo DSI no have the support to? That’s my only way to get on the site.

I dont like the new filter because when i use the site on my phone, and change the charecter and genre filter, it reloads the page in order to change each seting. It takes me 10 minutes to set the filter :-(

Please, PLEASE can you add in some sort of basic filter for the forums?

Can you add this to your to-do list?

Make the changes to reading parameters (font, story-width, etc) stick across browser sessions? Right now they go poof when you sign off the browser. I’m using Chrome, FYI.

    Thanks!

They stick for about a week, in my experience (also on Chrome). It seems to be connected with me being logged in, as it can only remember you for a week (it would be nice if you could choose ‘forever’) but I can’t say that’s the case for sure. I do know it’s not my browser getting rid of cookies etc as I do that on different dates.

I have to say for the most part I rather like the changes that were made, especially since they were done due to user response. Users wanted the ability to add more than 2 characters on a story as well as search for them. Not to mention the site looks nicer too.

that said it isn’t without problems. One of the places i use to access the site actively blocks my access to the site where the images and scripts for the site have been moved to. so when i’m using it here it extends all the the tabs so i have to go through a bunch of menu/navigation stuff to get to the actual content.

Though that is a minor problem that probably only affects a small number of users. It seems the bigger problem people are having is due to the increased number of character slots. People wanted it and so we got it, but none of us realized the draw back. The big appeal for the added slots is when you have a story with lets say 3/4 central characters or where there is a major ship in the story but it isn’t between both of the 2 central characters. (ex Char A & Char B are the central characters of the fic, but Char B & Char C’s relationship is the major pairing of the story. In this case the relationship between B & C while major is secondary to the plot involving A & B) By adding the additional character slots you can solve these types of problems.

Unfortunately adding the character slots, while fixing some created new problems. Which essentially stems from the character slots having long been used to show the central pairing of the fic. For a huge number of fics the central plot of the story revolves around it’s main ship. So the character slots have been used to narrow down the listing to those with the main ship. so if you looking for fics between A/B you just enter those characters and you have a pretty good listing of your desired ship. But adding the extra slots complicates that. by listing a fic with Characters A,B,C it will pop up for anyone looking for A&B, B&C, or A&C. if you add a character D to the fic it will popup on an additional 3 searches, (A&D, B&D, C&D).

Someone suggested adding in a void search so that it only searches for the characters specifically named. the problem with that is since the new character slots became available to the story, the majority of new stories are making use of it and older stories have been modified to list additional characters. So this option wouldn’t really help all that much as it would restrict searches to older fics and fics where the author only list 2 characters.

The only way i can see this resolved to most people’s satisfaction is to add an additional filter attribute for relationships similar to the way it’s done on ao3. thus you can designate a story with a pairing of A/C as well as highlighting that A, B, C, & D are major characters in the story. I can only really see this being done one of two ways. one way might be to include a flag that the author can check to state that the characters in slot A & B are a pairing. The alternative is to use a tagging system where the author can input the story’s pairings. The former might be easier to implement and use less resources on the database/server side of things, the latter could allow for a bit more flexibility in the pairing options.

In any case the one thing everyone should remember is that ff.net is a FREE Service and it’s maintained by a relatively small staff. While it’s ok to let them know that you dislike some of the recent changes and why, try not to be rude about it. Most people have been respectful but as always there are a few who haven’t.

I actually have no problem with the new filters. I actually like it the ability to omit certain pairing when look for one character POV. What I don’t like however is the ads. I got used to not having it there all the time that now I actually kinda miss the Ads Blocker. Please bring it back!!!

Your adds could be useful if they worked. When I click on the apply filters button nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. Which means now, I can’t even use my non-computer device and filter to see French results of a category or search for stories with two characters, as in the last mobile update.

While I appreciate the changes made at least partly, there’s still very much left to be done. (Yeah, so I’m maybe (too?) demanding but… Wasn’t the *original* purpose of this site to be a platform/medium for fans to share stories?)

    1.
The ‘All’-filter in several catgories is NOT working, i.e. it’s impossible to get the various fandoms listed alphabetically.

    2.
Why the BLAZES are there suddenly categories where not the – more or less – exact number of stories is listed but instead just an even *more* imprecise amount of ‘K’? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this! (Please either explain at least or, even better, just reverse that change to what it was before. Thank you.)

    3.
I’m certain I’m *not the only one* still waiting for a (slash) pairing-filter. That is, being able to find stories with a certain pairing – WITHOUT additionally getting all the other stories where the very same characters are listed just because they appear there. But are not in any way involved.

I apologize sincerely for not being able to convey better what I’m trying to say. It’s been said, done and written about more times than I care to count already. Too bad that apparently nobody at the top of the ‘food-chain’, so to speak, seems to care for the concerns/hints/requests/input of us readers… (IF they want to improve stuff – which is a commendable effort, IMHO – doesn’t it make sense to listen more closely to the other people (= fans) who actively use this site.

Thank you, nevertheless, for all the time and effort you guys put into this. Your efforts ARE appreciated, really, even when people like me are bi***ing about what you’re doing. Thank you!

You know what? I am sorry that you do not make enough money to afford the things you want and that you are jealous of the people who can. I am sorry that you live in a country that from your comments is so unbelievably horrid, and that you assume that every person who lives in the United States is living the lifestyle of a 90210 character. I apologize for the fact that even though you do not live in America, you believe that you know enough to argue with people who do about the price of goods and services available to them. Also, I give apologies that you do no comprehend that many people do not just go out and purchase new mobile devices and computers, but have to work and save their money to be able to afford them. If there is anything else that makes your life so unbearable that you must continue to be as negative and condescending to the comments of most others on the blog as humanly possible, I apologize for that too. I would give you the hug that your behavior seems to indicate you need if I could.

I searched adblocker/foxfire, which which was as specific for my set-up as I could find, and found two sites: adblocker plus and simple adblocker. I clicked on ‘plus’ and read what was there. I noticed there was a ‘remove button’ in case I changed my mind. I then clicked on ‘install now’ and followed clear and simple instructions, usually default. –If you want technical jargon, sorry. I can’t help with that.

Hi. I like the improved filtering. However, I’d like to request the ability to select “Other” as a character, i.e., a character not in the drop down list. Another request is to add “Slash” as a category and add the ability to filter out slash content. It is not always apparent from the summary whether or not a story is slash and it’s sometimes difficult to wade through the sea of stories to find one that isn’t, since there’s an abundance of it. Thanks.

… I confess to taking a backwards sort of satisfaction at all these devote romance readers complain about seeing stuff they don’t want. This has been an eternal plague to genfic readers for the entire history of the site. We’ve learned to deal with it over time though.

And suddenly the situation is a perfect flip-flop.

Still figuring out a good way to collect my thoughts on the system as a whole though (pros, cons, observations, weird stuff, etc).

      • IceDragonsFlame

        08/19/2013 at 11:03 am

Most of these comments aren’t about romance – they’re about the fact that with the four character filter it is no longer easy to find fics centered around one or two specific characters.

If I only fill out slots A and B I only want to see those characters. I don’t want any other characters to be the main ones.

If the slots were weighted by importance, instead of being force into alphabetical order like they are now, this issue could be resolved and I bet complaints would severely die down.

Hi. I like the improved filtering. However, it would be nice to have a slash category and be able to filter it out. There is an abundance of them in the fandoms I frequent and it’s sometimes difficult to wade through the sea of stories to find one that isn’t slash. Or perhaps filtering by pairing, as one commenter suggested, could be added. But I’d be more than happy if there’s the ability to filter by m/m, m/f, f/f, or no pairing. Thanks.

Keeping in mind that fanfiction.net is first and foremost, meant for computers, I won’t say anything about the problems it has with other devices( and I usually peruse the site on a Nook). However, I do urge you, on behalf of other users, to consider their input on this particular issue.

I also wont complain about the new filters either-there are bigger things to be concerned about. That is an issue that should be taken up with fic authors who choose which characters to include. And in my honest opinion, freaking out in a childish way over this won’t help. I like reading about specific characters as well. However, either I will adapt to this change, or disagree with it in a mature way. Reasonable,no?

Aside from the fact that the site was okay the way it originally was, my main complaint is the way you quietly got rid of the ad blocker. I discovered this site around seven years ago, and was quite impressed that we had the option to remove ads for three days. A couple years ago, I noticed it was lowered to ad removal for one day. I still did not mind. I was grateful we could still remove ads as well.

However, I felt quite annoyed when I discovered through other users that the blocker was removed without notice. I understand. Times are hard. If you guys had said that you needed more money to keep the site up, and removing the blocker would help, I am sure more of us would have accepted this.

Fanfiction.net is a huge gem for all sorts of online fandoms. Trying to fix something that isnt broken may only worsen things.

      08/19/2013 at 5:17 pm

The problem in the long run is that some of the users are expecting the site admins to keep programming for web browser systems that are considered to be out of date. Eventually site admins on any site have to stop updating them because no matter what one does there ends up being way to many bugs to work with. That’s how outdated the systems are. I know that’s the case with the blackberry, they haven’t gotten updates in forever and almost nobody uses them anymore and I’m assuming that’s the case with the 3DS system. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt the site admins to clarify that is the case.

That is an issue that should be taken up with fic authors who choose which characters to include.

Thank you! I’ve actually said this myself but what I got in response was that people didn’t want to take the time to contact the writers at all because it took too much time to send a PM or review after they happened into said story. Of course, I think some of them also know that their reviews wouldn’t be taken well as they know they’re nitpicking what constitutes a main character.

If you guys had said that you needed more money to keep the site up, and removing the blocker would help, I am sure more of us would have accepted this.

Bingo on this as well. Or if it was removed because it was getting an update even.

I’m sure I am in the minority, here, but I’ve gotta’ tell you- not really a fan of being able to tag more than two characters in story details. Admittedly, it is useful in some cases. If the story is central to all main characters, then I’m fine with it- but I’ve had my filters set for particular characters for a reason. My favorites always happen to be the more “minor” characters, which makes it that much more difficult to wade through fics to find what I’m looking for, but at the least the filters helped somewhat with that. (Still getting more romance fics than I’d like, but what can you do about that, right? Sometimes you find a gem in a category you’re not as fond of, overall. It happens.)

Now, however, it seems that setting character filters doesn’t do a whole lot of good when authors are tagging every single character that makes an appearance in the fic. I can live with it, but I feel like I can’t be the only one that feels this way, either.

    … Right?

    • yemi hikari

      08/19/2013 at 5:21 pm

A lot of the writers who are not tagging stories correctly I’ve noticed are people who don’t know how to use the character tag system in the first place either because they are new to the site, haven’t been on in a long while or are very young writers who could use some help figuring out which characters are the main characters in their stories.

Other stories… and I have one of these, has the character appear two to three chapters in and the writer actually works up to that point that they are included as a main character rather then shoving all the main characters at the reader at once.

I’ve had problems with the new filter system not applying filters using Opera Mobile. I’ve tried Opera Mini and while it does work the font size ends up being too big and can’t be changed. I end up with about half the amount of text on the screen as when compared to Opera Mobile which makes it more difficult for me to read a story fluidly.
I wouldn’t have thought it would be too hard to have the new search filters while having them coded the same way as the old filter system.
I always thought that a mobile site was meant to be simpler than the main sites in order to be compatible with more devices. From what I can tell the new Mobile site version is basically just the main site with less styling, the coding is just as complicated. This in my thoughts kind of defeats the purpose of having a mobile site version as there is no real difference between the two now.

I’ve had no problems on Opera Mini with this site. I have version 7.1 on my phone. What version do you have?

I’m using Opera Mobile 10.1 and Opera Mini 5.1. I use a Windows Mobile phone and for some reason Opera decided to stop updating them for Windows Mobile after these versions despite the fact that there are still loads of phones that use it.

I still don’t like the four character tag thing. It was much better when we only had two character tags. With four character slots people are just slapping characters in the slots even if they only show up once.

Finding stories is impossible now. It doesn’t matter if I put the character that I want in the filters I end up getting a huge list of stories that are about characters that I don’t care about, and the character that I do want to read about is a background character.

We should go back to the two character tags. The four character thing is too easily abused, and right now it just makes everything worse. Also, don’t tell me that this is something that I need to take up with the writers. I can’t stop at every single story on this sight and tell them “Yeah, you need to fix your character tags because blah, blah, blah.”

I do not have that much time in the day to sit here and do that. Also, sometimes you run into people who still won’t do anything about it even if I do message them.

I also really don’t get why some people are telling others to ‘deal with it’ when it comes to people asking to change filters/add a slash, straight, or no couple filter/whatever. How is fanfiction going to improve if we don’t offer up suggestions, complaints, or new ideas? Telling people to ‘deal with it’ is more or less just telling us to zip our lips and sit in the corner.

If people are being polite about it I don’t see what the harm in asking for something to be added or fixed. If they happen to suggest an idea or ask for something that will never be possible just tell them why it can’t happen or why it won’t work. Don’t just tell them to live with it especially if it’s something they are really concerned about.

Also, if you got enough people complaining about something then it’s obvious that we have a problem with it in some way. It doesn’t hurt to see what everyone’s problem is so that we may try to fix it or find a solution that can make things better for people.

One last thing can someone tell me if the people who run fanfiction actually read this or not. The reason why I ask is the fact that I want to know if I am wasting my time here or not. If they read the messages on here that’s great, but if they don’t I will now know and I can just try to send them an e-mail instead. It might not accomplish anything, but at least I can take comfort in the fact that hopefully someone who works on the site will see it.

Thank you to anyone who bothered to read this. I am sorry that it is so long.

The only filteres or whatever I tend to use are the ratings to all, and the language one to English. The bit issue I have is when I tyr ot use the filters, the apply and anancle buttons eem to be jammed together to whre they won’t let me use the filters properly.

      (…)

People have been telling the people insisting that we go back to the two character system to deal, not the people suggesting the added relationship filter. A large amount of complaints isn’t always reflective of their being an actual problem, sometimes it is reflective of a certain group of people not being able to deal with change occurring.

I’ve done quite a few character searches and I’m not seeing the problem a lot of people including yourself are claiming is there. The majority of the stories actually do have the characters I’m looking for as main characters in the story and I’ve seen very small numbers when it comes to people not using the character tags correctly.

If though you do happen to see a problem in your particular searches where there is indeed a high number of stories where the character you’re looking for is a background character then speak up. Don’t insist that the site admins change back something that is honestly working in most places just because the majority of the writers you’re coming across aren’t using it correctly.

Then there are the people who are complaining because they are finding stories where the characters they are looking for are main characters but there are other characters who are main characters. Or they’re upset specifically because one of these other characters who are main character outside of the one or two they’re looking for are *gasp* a character the reader doesn’t like.

While it is true that it is in the readers right to read these stories or not, choosing to forgo reading a story because you dislike a character shows a major lack of maturity on the part of the reader. This isn’t the same as not picking up a story because there is a pairing you’re not fond of, because you don’t like a certain trope being used or even because the writing quality isn’t good.

There are also a lot of complaints about finding slash (and on some sides het) which could be solved by a relationship filter. It’s not the fact people are complaining about finding these stories that is an issue, but the fact that many of the comments from those complaining about finding slash come across as very homophobic on the part of the complainer. I say this as someone who doesn’t tend to read slash and stays away from it.

I’m going to end this by saying taking away the four character system is going to punish those who are using it correctly. For the fandoms that still sort alphabetically rather then keeping the character choices when added the writers will have to go back and change every fic. When they added the filter in I not only saw an increase in the number of hits I got to the stories but I also got new readers and have been getting a steady flow of reviews that is compatible to how it used to be for my stories two to three years ago.

Hey, if you have ideas as to how to fix the filters by all means say it.

I get why having four characters is a good for some people I really do. However, that does not change the fact that some people are having serious issues with this new four character option. I’m mostly just getting frustrated with it. I have taken in consideration the fact that going back to the old two character slot might be unfair to the people who wanted four character slots, and you are right it is a little unfair to those people. Also, you are right some people don’t like change and some of the outcry may be from that.
However, there are a lot of people who are complaining about the filters because they actually have real reasons for not likening it. It’s unfair to tell them to ‘deal with it’ when they actually have a problem with it. It’s also unfair to just ignore them and insist that they just don’t like change. I honestly think things where better when we had only two character choices, but that’s just me. What we have here is a problem, and we need to find some sort of middle ground.
I’ve done quite a few character searches and I’m not seeing the problem a lot of people including yourself are claiming is there. The majority of the stories actually do have the characters I’m looking for as main characters in the story and I’ve seen very small numbers when it comes to people not using the character tags correctly.
I think this depends on how many stories you have to dig through and what character/couple/group of characters that you are looking for on this one. Maybe you are having an easy time finding the stories you want I wouldn’t know. All I know is that I’m not having as great as luck as you when it comes to the searches. Every once in awhile I can find the type of story that I want, but it usually doesn’t take long for those stories to get lost in the landslide of other stories that pop up. Then I have to sit there and dig through a bunch of stories that I don’t care about just to find what I want.
Also, there are way too many people complaining about this so obviously there are people who are having a hard time finding what they want. I seriously doubt you have sat there at your computer and looked up every single character in every single section on this list to see how easy (or hard) it is to find something. You might be having an easy time, but there are plenty of people who are having a harder time in doing so. Don’t assume that just because you aren’t having any difficulty that means everyone else is doing just as good.
For me some things are harder to find then others, and I noticed that back when we had only two characters it was a heck of a lot easier to find things.
Then there are the people who are complaining because they are finding stories where the characters they are looking for are main characters but there are other characters who are main characters. Or they’re upset specifically because one of these other characters who are main character outside of the one or two they’re looking for are *gasp* a character the reader doesn’t like.
Most of the complaints that I see are dealing with the fact that they are looking for stories that have some character as a main character, but instead they get a story where the character they want is either…
        A. Put into the character slot, but they rarely actually show up or they only show up for a brief time and then are never seen again.
Or B. They are nothing more than side characters that aren’t really focused on.
Now I’m not saying that their aren’t people who are freaking out because there are other main characters in the story. Those people are probably out there, but the thing is I have not really seen anyone say that in their complaints about the four character slot. Now granted there are a lot of messages and complaints on here so I probably just missed the ones who are complaining about multiple main characters, but a majority of the complaints that I have seen have never said anything to imply this.
Also, not reading a story that stars a character that someone dislikes show a ‘major lack of maturity’? That’s a bit of a stretch if you ask me, and I think we might have to agree to disagree on this one.
I’m going to apologize right now if my not wanting to read a story that’s all about some character that hate makes me immature. I’m not being sarcastic here I am honestly sorry. The matter of the fact is if I can’t stand a character I have my reasons why I can’t stand the character. Maybe I think they whine too much. Maybe I don’t like how they treat everyone else around them. Whatever the case may be sometimes characters get under people’s skin. I don’t think its right to tell them that they are immature just because they don’t want to read a story that focuses on a character that they dislike. As far as I am concerned it’s the same as not reading a story because you don’t like the tropes or the couple.
Will they miss out on some truly wonderful stories? Yeah, they probably will miss out. However, the same could be said for not reading a story just because you don’t like the couple that it focuses on.
Again, this is something we will have to agree to disagree on. I have a feeling that we could argue about it until the cows come home, but we won’t change each other’s minds about this. This is just my view and you are free to take it, think about it, or hate it.
I also got new readers and have been getting a steady flow of reviews that is compatible to how it used to be for my stories two to three years ago.
That’s great, and I am really happy that your stories are getting more attention. However, I can’t say that I have had much of a difference to my stories with this new filter. It changed nothing for me I’m still getting around the same reviews that I always get and the hits that I have been getting have not raised all that much.
Also, to be honest I think there are more factors to your raising popularity other then the four character limit thing. Whatever the case may be I am happy to know that you are doing well, and I hope you get even more reviews in the future.
To end this all I’m going to say that while it may not be fair to go back to two character, but it might be the better option in the long haul. At least until we come up with a better solution on how to deal with the four characters slots and the problems that it causes. A large majority of people really don’t like the four character slots, and it’s hard to ignore the sheer amount of people who really seem to hate it. Some people hate change, but not everyone hates change. There are just too many people complaining about this, and it’s not something I think we should just plug our ears to and ignore. As I said before it’s not fair to just ignore them and dismiss them.
That’s just my opinion though. Feel free to ignore it if you wish. At the end of the day I’m just some random unimportant girl who’s just posting up an opinion that will be forgotten about in a couple of weeks anyway.

I can say this as a fan of reading stories on fanfiction.net I think people’s main issue here is not the 4 character filter its the fact that it was rolled out without any info on how to actually use the new filters. For some they may be getting more readers and reviews with this new way however people who only like certain characters and only want to read stories with just those character should be told to suck it up. Everyone is different and the easiest thing to do is to put a option in the filters if someone is only looking for 1 or 2 or maybe just 3 characters instead of 4 and have be something that’s say something like no other characters or something. That everyone wins.

You pick a choice from the drop-downs, as you’ve been doing for the old filters.

Two points I find rather annoying right now:

    1. The whole ‘k’ business instead of just listing the (rough?) number of stories as before.

    2. When you use the ‘ALL’ filter in a category – no matter which one! – you get the fandoms in highest-story-count ordered, NOT as before simply listed alphabetically.

Could you please, pretty please, at least fix THAT bug?

I agree completely with your first point. It was MUCH better when they had an exact nunder of stories instead of the “k” crap.

To judge from all the comments in the past week, I think you just got a resounding “AMEN!!” from the congregation.

I think that, if they aren’t going to turn those two features back, the site admins should at least be courteous enough to explain what the benefits are and why it has to be this way, because no one else has grasped what they’re trying to accomplish with the changes.

Not necessarily, as the DSi uses a Opera browser whereas 3DS uses NetFront (WebKit based)

I suggest two new categories: Satire and Experimental. Satire is self-explanatory, Experimental would gather all those weird stories in one place where one would not stumble upon them unprepared. One needs a certain readiness of mind when dealing with would-be Gertrude Steins or Ross Lockridges.

    • Hawki

      08/19/2013 at 6:16 pm

I hate to shoot down ideas for the sake of shooting them down, but with these categories…eh, no. I’m not sure what would count as “experimental,” as in, would it be “weird,” or would it be “I tried this story as an experiment in writing a certain way, ergo, it’s with this cat.” Also, “sattire” is probably covered under the “parody” category.

      • yemi hikari

        08/19/2013 at 6:47 pm

“Experimental” would be the alternative title for “crack fic” if the site admins didn’t want to use the word “crack” for one of the genre. However, seeing “experimental” would lead to writers thinking it means they can experiment with fonts in ways that are against the rules or that because it is “experimental” that they should be excused from critique.

As someone who writes satire I am currently putting my satire under the parody category, but would quickly change them to satire if said genre was added. That’s how much satire isn’t covered under parody. While they can overlap and they both serve similar purposes they are two different things.

Satire is where one comments upon a social issue in a critical manner. Parody is where you mimic another persons work either in a mocking fashion or a comedic fashion depending on the end goals. Satire doesn’t fall under parody if you aren’t mimicking another persons writing style or story. Parody on the other hand can have satirical elements to it but it doesn’t always have any major form of criticism and simply done for a laugh or a what if depending on the story.

      • Lynn Hollander

        08/19/2013 at 11:29 pm

        Satire is not simply parody.

I was thinking of current equivalents of Stein’s ‘stream-of-consciousness’ or the complexity of _Raintree County_ or the depth of _The Wasteland_.

    Okay, Time out, folks,

    Let’s try to reason, here.

I’ve read through about 4 days’ worth of comments about the rounded-off numbers, and thus far, I haven’t found a single one in favor.

In fairness to yourselves, would the admin staff please speak up and explain the reasoning behind this, (which evidently no one else is getting), and why it must stay this way, or else give serious thought to turning it back.

I’ll leave the debate over the filters for someone more invested in it.
