Apple iOS users can finally submit new docs via our Document Manager with today’s change.
Changes
- New iPad/iPhone/iPod compatible web paste method for document submission. Since the aforementioned devices do not have a file-upload feature within their mobile Safari browser, we have created a web-based paste-type system to compensate. The new submission method would also be of interest to those that prefer copying-n-pasting from their favorite word program.

Can’t help but thank you for the flurry of changes that have come through on FFN as of late. So much attention being paid to improving the site and making it more user friendly. Problems seem to be addressed so quickly and I love receiving notifications via Twitter with details here on the blog so that I, as a user, know what’s going on as things evolve. Thank you!

Does this finally allow horizontal line inserting correctly too? Even though that is the preferred ‘scene-break’ for Fanfiction.net, the document manager doesn’t actually keep that formatted on upload/paste.

I have a comment…why do you allow people like Flaming like Chizard on the site? I haven’t gotten a flame from them but I know people who have. The user runs a community of stories they think suck, as well as saying right out that they are a flamer. They have two accounts. I can understand not being able to punish anon flamers, but this person is right under people’s noses and no one does anything!

First, there isn’t a “Flaming like Chizard” on the site. If you mean “Flaming like a Charizard” then I’m going to have to say not all of his reviews are re-portable, at least on an individual basis. For example, you can’t report this kind of review. “Spelling isn’t good. Plots boring and not well thought out. Grammar is poor..” This isn’t a flame and most of the reviews I’ve found are along these lines. A few flames isn’t enough to constitute not allowing him on the site. Nowhere on his profile does he admit to flaming, but he does admit to giving constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is NOT flaming. Actually, if you want to know what flaming in take a good hard look at the replies he’s gotten from people that he’s posted. That’s flaming.
I’m not the admins, but this may be the exact reason why the site admins don’t allow people to turn off anonymous reviews anymore. Some people WERE using it as a way to escape ANY form of constructive criticism which is against site rules.

Yay, finally! My iPad has a full word processor, and my favorite writing software, Scrivener, is coming to the iPad soon, so this will be great!

I don’t have any of these devices but I do know fellow writers who have moved to such devices so I am personally happy with this change.

Great idea, but I tried it today and it doesn’t pick up on things like bold or italicized words. You have to go back in and edit the entire document again after you paste it. Please fix! I personally preferred the ‘Upload’ option because my iPad is jailbroken and allows for file uploads. Gives us the option, please!

A bug to report:
You can’t filter by reviews/favorites/follows for comms. You can still filter by add date/update date but if you choose any of the other three, the counter is broken and they are displayed out of order.

I’ll add that the counter is off for the manage stories area too… I think it is the same things… and one of them was word count.

I’m having this problem where the page takes at least a minute to load, but then, my firefox says something about server not found. But after I refresh it, it takes another minute, and the page shows up again. Is there a reason for that or is my browser just acting up?

Which pages takes this long to load? Who is your ISP and have you tried after temporarily disabling any filtering by your antivirus program?

The FanFiction main page and any author’s profile pages. No, I haven’t tried that yet.

So when are we going to be able to LINK THINGS ON OUR PROFILES AGAIN? Now that’s it’s been six months, ya know. It’s getting really annoying.

What I like about this is that if I want to update 2 or more fics on the same day, the Copy-N-Paste thing let’s me do that and label them by story title. Then I don’t have to keep deleting .doc–the only extension I save my files as–and uploading the next one. so thank you for adding that to both mobile and computer sites. It makes uploading much faster and easier
From other comments saying it doesn’t save the formatting, that’s not happening to me–or at least not from last night when I uploaded something; not sure if that changed overnight– I use Firefox 14, the latest version, in case others want to compare if they are having the “no formatting” issue–again, I didn’t have that problem last night, so it could be it messed up overnight for whatever reason–

Please, please can you put back the bookmark feature? I can’t tell you how many times I lose my place in a story, then read ahead and spoil things for me because I forget where I was. Please bring this back!

You need to login to your account and read the big warning/error message regarding your email delivery problem. After reading it, you need to check/acknowledge it.

Thankyou so much for this update, you don’t know how annoying it is to get my laptop out everytime I want to write a chapter. Sorry if I sound ungrateful, but do you think you could also make an update to let us upload pictures from our ipod/ipad? Well even if you can’t, I’m still really thankful for this update!

I love the copy and paste but, whenever I post the chapter via IPad, it comes out a one whole paragraph. No matter how many I copy-n-paste or edit it.

I would type out a chapter on my IPad but, it comes out as a whole paragraph not broken up like how I had it. So I have to do things like , , and for italics/bold I use ,.
Jts truly bothersome.

Useless
I tried to post something, and it clumped it all into one paragraph. I went in and added line breaks (which I can assure you had an exceptionally high ratio of time required to fun had). After I saved the changes, the site decided it much preferred the original vsion.
I really would like to post stories on fictionpress, but apparently that isn’t possible from my ipad…
