Near Real-Time Updates

21 Feb

We have just introduced an important update that will resolve an lingering issue where some users might stumble upon stale pages when the author has just performed content changes.

With the new update, relevant story and user profile pages will be updated within seconds of certain type of changes.

Story pages will update in near real-time for content changes:

  • chapter added, removed, replaced, or story removed.

User Profile page will update in near real-time for content changes:

  • profile updates or story info changes.

Due to browser’s internal caching, changes might not take effect until after a browser refresh.

Hmm… This is good, at least for the users who love updating stuff on daily basis.
I’m still wondering. February has come to an end but still the ‘Master Surprise’ hasn’t been introduced. Will it take some more time or you guys will just release it out at the very end of the month? This update is probably not the surprise, is it?

Doubt it. Xing was all on the surprise, so I am pretty sure he will say it as the ‘surprise update’. And I don’t see it here.

Take it as ‘let’s get ready for the surprise’ update at least? That was what I see it as. *shrugs*

We still have a week left before the end of February. From the sound of it, the surprise will be big. I’m looking forward to learning what it is. I suspect I’ll load up FFN one day and wonder what the heck happened. 🙂

Hope this means the problems with cover images staying put will be fixed.

Not sure where this question goes… Is there a way to show a “Favorites” story “complete”? Some of them obviously will never be finished and others I have to go back and check for author’s notes constantly.
