Today’s impact:

  • Expect very short service disruptions in some areas throughout the day. Each disruption should last less than a minute.

I don’t know if this is related to the move or not but I noticed my page had a large, unused blank section on the right side. Everything was in place, though.

My inbox is doing the same. The headings ( “To”, “Subject”, and “Message”) are to the left of the page, and the content boxes next to them on the right, instead of below them as they used to be. The content boxes extend beyond the edge of the screen (there is a scroll bar, but still…)

I’m on Internet Explorer version 10, Windows 7.

I checked my inbox when I read the comment – it is completely out of proportion; the box in which I’m supposed to write the message is very, very large and moved to the right; I have to scroll the screen to the right to see it in full; there’s a lot of space to the left side with nothing but the number that tells me how many characters I’ve left

I checked – my inbox has the same issue. The received messages, too, are spread out verrrrry wide off the page towards the right, needing to used the scroll bar back and forth to read it all.
      I use Firefox, Windows 7.

my PMing reply box is a bit odd, it’s off to the side of the screen, rather then the center. i had to do some side scrolling to reply to my message.

Further to this, my stats page seems to be broken, too. The first four columns (words, chapters, views, reviews) are okay, but from there across, everything is out of vertical alignment.

      09/16/2013 at 4:25 pm

Sorry – should have said, that’s the Legacy story stats page, not the daily stats.

      • konarciq

        09/16/2013 at 4:37 pm

Same here. The only columns displayed correctly are the title (although a bit bunched up in a too narrow column), number of words and number of chapters. The rest is a mess.
        Windows 7, Firefox.

    09/16/2013 at 5:55 pm

I’m having the same crushed-looking problem on the Legacy Story Stats page (I use IE 10 on Windows 7). Also, the spacing looks all screwed up, with large gaps between each story. I have very little time to check my stats, and when I do, I have managed to arrange it so the four stories whose stats I’m most interested in are all arranged so I can look without scrolling (which was hard, considering I use a notebook computer and have a really small screen), and now I have to do a LOT of scrolling. And when I hit the “views” button to rearrange stories in descending order, it makes the crushed-looking problem even worse.

Thank you so much for working so hard to keep us informed of updates/issues, and for all your hard work keeping this website up and running for us! 🙂

    09/16/2013 at 6:48 pm

my legacy stats page is the same, everything is all crumbled to the side like others have been reporting… i do hope that this is just a glitch because i don’t like how this pyramid of sorting is going on with the legacy stats page to organise the most alerted story or whatever….

    09/16/2013 at 6:56 pm

Same here (Windows 7, Chrome) for the account area.

Messages are stretched out because sentences aren’t broken off to start on the next line properly. They are broken off much later, as I happen to have a screen cap I made yesterday of a PM which has 26 words on the first line but now, upon checking said PM in my inbox, it has 36 words there. This also means the buttons in the upper left corner to go to the inbox and outbox are too far to the left and unreachable unless you scroll horizontally.

    Composing PM:
The note of three sentences is on one line, which also stretches the layout (I can just see ‘unsolicited’ before I have to scroll). The ‘to’ and ‘message’ boxes don’t end until in the center of the screen. This is not a problem for the recipient as their name shows properly but the actual text box in which you have to type your PM starts at the center of my screen too, takes up the entire left side and then I have to scroll to see the other half of it, including the ‘send’ button. I do, however, see the ‘site preview’ button which is just left of the center of my screen and strangely enough the entire white background layout is displaying correctly, just not the bars of ‘follow our blog…’, ‘private messaging (PM)’, ‘message history’, the PM to which to reply, ‘compose message’, ‘note’ and the text box; the recipient’s name (from the PM to which to reply), the ‘to’ and ‘recipient’s name’ (to which to send) are displaying within the bounds of the white layout.

    Legacy stats:
Columns are scrunched up, allowing only 1-2 word(s) per line for the titles and starting at ‘C2s’ it’s messed up. I have an entire blank column there of just two rows, possibly because only one of my fics is in someone’s C2 if I recall correctly and that number is listed under the alerts row (but when I hover my cursor over it it does show it’s the actual C2s number by looking at the link). My ‘fav’ column is entirely blank too, except for the first fic with a correctly displayed number and the column has only three rows: the first fic, then everything until the second to last, with the last two being their own row. However, if I hover my cursor over the second row of favs it highlights (all the way down to where the last two fics are) indeed the second fic but with the actual number of favs being displayed under ‘alerts’ and an extra column for the alert numbers. This continues with the other fics, which creates the stair-like effect someone else had already mentioned: the last fic has 21 ’empty’ columns before I actually see (upon scrolling) the number of favs and alerts. It also somehow highlights two columns at the same time when hovering over some of them, possibly if a fic only has favs and no followers.

    Manage stories:
The problem only seems to be contained to the properties tab, at which all the bars are stretched out, leaving me to scroll horizontally again.

    I think that’s about it.

    • fems

      09/17/2013 at 1:35 pm

Everything back to normal here, as well.

However, I did just notice there are actually 5 fics of mine listed in several C2s, yet I never got a notification for this (I just checked my gmail and have received none over the years) and only saw the one a long time ago when I was keeping an eye on it. Is there not an option anywhere to enable receiving email notifications (and perhaps allowing a user to accept/decline) for when a fic of yours gets added to someone’s C2, or am I supposed to remember this for all my fics? I checked and all my email notifications are enabled but the one for community alerts is just about for when you subscribe to someone else’s C2, not to alert you when yours is added to someone’s C2.

      • Erica

        09/18/2013 at 12:05 am

Actually, I thought that was normal. I don’t remember ever receiving a notification for when one of my fics got added to any C2. Usually, I’ll only notice if I see the number change on the legacy stat page.

An email notification would be nice, and also the accept/decline -there are certain C2s that one would like to avoid, I would think.

        09/18/2013 at 10:47 am

I wasn’t sure but assumed it was (since I never received any notifications), hence my request.

How dreadful to have to put one’s entire life on hold for over twenty minutes because one can’t log into a fiction site!

I’m not having any difficulties whatsoever logging in. I assume that means it’s already fixed. If anyone’s still having trouble, maybe it would help to mention where you are and what browser/OS you’re using, so the problem can be tracked down.
