In the coming weeks we will be slowing phasing out support for Internet Explorer 6 and 7 browsers. For the 0.5% of users that are still using IE 6/7 please upgrade to Google Chrome, Firefox or IE 8/9/10 at the earliest convenience.
For clarification, when we drop “support” for a browser version, we will no longer actively test or apply bug fixes for any quirks in that browser version. Most feature will still function but future compatibility are not guaranteed.

Is anyone else having trouble with the story filters? I’m unable to use the language drop-down list with my firefox browser. It’s like the whole browser slows down and freezes if I don’t cancel out of the filter. I’ve had to zoom out to see the options in the language list.

Okay so I’m on Windows 7 is that the same to Internet Explorer? I do have Google Chrome but I shouldn’t have problems on my cell phone right?

No. Internet Explorer is the default browser for Windows 7. IE 7 is an older version of the browser which is currently on its 10th version. You should be fine with Google Chrome since its a different browser.

You are probably using IE 8 or 9 at the minimum, if you even *open* Internet Explorer (it’s not the same as the version of Windows you use).

No. That’s your operating system.

No it isn’t the same. Windows is the operating system. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox are browsers (what you use internet for). As for your cell phone, that is a totally different operating system and something that you won’t have problems with, unless they announce it on here for mobile problems.

IE6/7 are ancient, so if you have the default browsers you should be fine.

Thanks for explaining. Guys, I had it explained to me last night by my Dad. My laptop is always doing updates. It’s an Internet Explorer 8 which means. I’m going to be fine.

I’m on Windows 7 does that mean I have Internet Explorer 7? But I do have Google Chrome so does that mean I shouldn’t have any problems? Will there be any problems for the mobile?

No! I have Windows 8, for example, and Internet Explorer 9, although I use Goggle Chrome because it’s 100 x better. The type of Operating System you have is nothing to do with your Browser. You may want to learn some Basic Computer Facts, no offence meant. It could be useful. To answer you question fully, for now no one can guarantee there will be not be problems for you. PC issues generally do effect Mobile ones, even though the two look different. You may experience problems if you use IE6 or IE7. Use Google Chrome. It’s the best.

It’s “*no longer actively test,” not “longer actively test.”
And I have no problems in upgrading my browsers. You need to have a very outdated computer if you can’t upgrade to at least an IE 8. ._.’

“we will longer actively test or apply bug”
Do you mean “no longer”?

It means that if a bug shows up for those particular browsers it is not going to be fixed. This though is standard practice as browsers become out of date.

I have been using Firefox for a long time now, and I’m going to keep using it.
