Well when you go on a Forum the only way to get out of it is by using the back button, other then that, that’s it.

It’s nice you’ve changed the icons for languages in the top corner. I like this way much better than the little flags that constantly were drawing unnecesary attention

in the last 3 days or so I’ve started having an issue with the general font size on the mobile site. i use the mobile site a lot on my android phone and tablet, but all of a sudden the font sizw has gotten almost impossibly small for all general pages like the home page, going to the vampire diaries section, orthe hunger games section. since i can adjust the font when im in a story, that is still readable. but evertthing else is supersmall and i cant adjusty that. all other web pages still appear the same to me. I’ve tried the browser that comes with the mobile devices, chrome, and firefox. help! i want to be able to look for stories again without killing my eyes!

Bug report: Clicking on one of the sort links on an author’s page will sort ALL stories, including those it shouldn’t

    There are 56 stories listed
    Click updated (sort)
There are 184 stories listed (There should be 56)
    Click Favourite Stories
There are still 184 stories listed (There should be 128)
    Click Title (sort)
There are 312 stories listed (There should be 128), and this list now contains many duplicates!

These numbers seem to come from:
184 – The amount of author’s stories + the amount of author’s favourites
    312 – The amount of author’s stories + (2 x the amount of author’s favourites)

        A few more
You can’t go to a forums’s home from threads anymore
An OLD one: You can’t open a new tab from left click or center click for the newest page of a thread

I have noticed a HUGE problem with forum functionality. Before, you had a link at the top that could take you back to the forum’s main page where you could see all the threads, but now you got rid of that and it’s making forum use EXTREMELY less user friendly than before.

    Can you fix that, please?

Just a minor complaint, but the new way of doing the review icons is problematic. I preferred the small squares to the circles, as the circles cut off quite a bit of the picture. In the long run it doesn’t really matter, but I liked it better the old way.

Please re-add the hyperlinks to the originating forum on forum threads. It’s a little inconvenient to navigate now as trying to get back to the main forum through the “back” button gives the “are you sure you wish to resubmit this form” box if you’ve just replied to the post. Thank you.

Concerning the update, some things I like, some I don’t. In general, I preferred the previous version of the author’s stories/ fav. stories/ fav authors/ communities browsing because without the story covers it was much, much more efficient for me both from loading point of view and personal browsing – the less scrolling/clicking ‘next page’ there is, the better. The icons are an eyesore in this case – I see them in general filtering of the archive and the story itself here. That and the new buttons are just… weird. From performance standpoint, the new tabs are less efficient as matter of fact – the previous ones reacted much faster once you get to the 500+ fav. list which I am prone to using since it gets me faster to my particular flavor of stories. I would advise rollback on that but knowing this website, we won’t see it. Well, that or just ditching images since they are pointless in this case.

The ‘greater than sign’ that doubles as link next to the title of the story – well, I am genuinely uncertain what function it serves. The title/link is already there and whilst i do not use a touch device, logically isn’t the title easier to tap with the greater surface area?

Icon update was decent enough, I guess, unifying the new and old; that said, the ones for story size/contrast etc. seem slightly too big. The live counter – not really that relevant to me, in all honesty but it could do without the grey shape around the number. Hmm, the first line/ chapter index spacing remains broken from while back but largely irrelevant sans for aesthetic purposes.

In all honesty, based on first impressions, the author’s page tabs and story covers in the browsing their were somewhat annoying (as well as slightly slow down( Firefox 25.0.1 here) if there is long list of files. That said, do not want to see pages as the solution since that defeats the use of down arrow button for me.). I haven’t played around with the update features enough to see if something was broken by it… well, I will post more if something broken or some such.

The gt than sign next to stories brings you to the story’s last chapter.

Just an FYI from a programmer’s point of view. I don’t work for FanFiction.Net, so some of this may be wrong.
In the past, the code that displayed stories on author’s pages was EXTREMELY different from that on other pages. This was noticeable when the new character display was introduced, and it took a long time for it to progress onto the new pages.
The code is now roughly similar, so I imagine it will be easier for Xing to update in the future.

May I ask how i go back to forum Index if I’m reading a topic? I cannot see that link and I have to rewrite the url to get in there 🙂
    For example: to

Besides, I love the new chagne. It looks like modern.

It doesn’t work well (for me) while using Internet Explorer (IE9), but when I use Firefox it works perfectly. When using IE, at the top of the page I don’t get “Mobile Edition”, “Fontastic Panic: UI Settings”, and “Language:. The only thing that I have is an asian font characters; when you put the curser over the character, I only get the “Fontastic Panic: UI Settings” () in order to change the language.

You have either (1) modified your IE 9 security settings from default (reset to default settings) (2) or you have enabled “compatibility” mode when you shouldn’t have.

hey question, thank you for adding the hyper links to get back to the forums, however, could you also add to the hyperlinks, one to get back to the admin of the forum’s main forums page like before?, as at least I used it a lot to get back to the users forum, whom I am a large part in many forums and like just being able to click a button to get back to said users main listed forums.

Stop introducing new features, Xing! They are not needed. I liked the site much better when you and your lads weren’t constantly tinkering with it and changing stuff.

Forums look really strange in IE8 – the pinned topic headings are in a bigger font than the others (looks like twice the font size).

I’ve just tried to start a new thread in a forum, and nothing happens when I click the “new” button.

Also in IE8, the little pointy symbol which takes you to the latest post in a forum or the latest chapter of a story are missing – there’s a little box there which does the same job, but it’s not at all obvious. “Pinned” and “locked” symbols in the forums are also not showing

The icons for WordPress, Twitter and Google+ at the bottom of the page are not showing – just little blank boxes. Also the language icons at the top of the screen are the same

Thanks for your hard work – if you could look at these things it would be great.

You need to reset the security settings of your IE 8 to default.

I’ve an odd problem: I’m using Internet Explorer (IE) 9 and when I try turn my font style into ‘Verdana’ it won’t let me Save it from Fontastic Panel. It just stays ‘Open Sans’. But when I use Google Chrome it works well. Any ideas what to do/how to fix it?

I’m happy with the changes for the most part. I like the “greater than” symbol that takes you to the last chapter of the story. I use an iPad and it was always a little difficult to tap on the old symbol, but now it’s much, much easier to tap on the new symbol. Thank you!

I’m also glad we can see story covers on an author’s profile. It would be a LOT easier to browse the profiles if we could have pagination on the profiles, though, like on the mobile site. Some authors have hundreds of stories and it takes forever to navigate through them (and it takes forever to load all those story covers), so it would be really great if there were only fifty stories or so on a page. I really hope this becomes a feature in the future.

Thanks for all your hard work, Xing!
